Worshipping God because God is worth it
Branden writes, "There is a song by Matt Redman in which part of the lyrics goes, "My heart responds to Your revelation". That's when we can come into that place of deep and intimate worship with God. You know so often we come to God and worship God because there is something we need or desire in our lives. We need to ask ourselves can we worship God because of God's worthiness to be worshipped by us? Can we leave our alterior motives at the door? When we come into that place of just worshipping God because of God's greatness, add to the fact all that God has done in our hearts and lives - what a wonderful experience we will have with God."
As someone who is called into the music ministry, i often have times when i feel so inadequate... but God reminds me that you don't have to be adequate to worship me. Worship me because I am God and whatever else needs to be taken care of, will be taken care of by me. Public worship may leave us feeling so exposed, we feel hindered to worship God in an exhuberant way because of people around us.
We have heard on many occassions that worship on earth is practice for worship in Heaven, where we will be with multitudes of people just gloryfying our wonderful Lord.
Lets take this into our heart - Our private time of worshipping God, when nobody else is around, lets extend that into our public worship of God. Manifest the gifts that we have been given as the Holy Spirit moves within our hearts.
Worship in the old English was referred to as "worthness" - God is worthy to be praised church. I worship God because i love God and because i seek God with all my heart. I encourage you today to find that intimate place with God in your worship, and may our barriers that we put up be removed so that we can enter into the Holy of Holies to meet our Lord.
