Stop Surviving and Start Thriving

God wants us to thrive! God wants the very best for us! But I think sometimes we live in survival mode and because of that we don't thrive. The things I think keeping us from thriving is unbelief, doubt, lack of trust and most importantly the sin in our lives we do not want to either acknowledge, are in denial about or we are happy to live in “lah lah” land and ignore these sins. We either enjoy these sins or we are not willing to surrender that part of our lives to God.
For the most part, some of us like to be in "control" of our lives, only allowing God into certain parts while trying to do it our own way! We put God on the throne but as soon as it comes to one of those sensitive areas, we take back "control" and push God off the throne. Pity we don't realise that God is ALWAYS in control anyway, and if we do things God's way it will be far better for us, but no, we want to do it the Sinatra way, MY way!
I have learnt that acknowledgement of these oh so sore places brings such freedom and thriving. When I stopped surviving and let God be God in my life, I started growing and thriving. See what Matthew has to say:
"If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers-most of which are never even seen-don't you think God'll attend to you, take pride in you, do God's best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can
respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way God works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how God works. Steep your life in God-reality, God initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” (Matthew 6:30 MSG)
Awesome word from God that assures us that God wants the best for us and that we can trust God for the very best in our lives. Expect it! It has been written therefore it is so!
If you are caught in a prison of fear, with bars of hopelessness, doubt and unbelief, surrender all to God and God will bring the freedom you need. Stop surviving, Start Thriving!!
