It’s really sad and frustrating to see how the enemy invades one’s thought life, the moment something happens that displeases us, or when a misperception occurs. He takes full advantage of our weaknesses; especially when they are things like being overly sensitive or taking offence easily, then the mind games he plays begins.

We must be alert about this if we want to be spiritually healthy. The Book of Proverbs has much wise instruction on the effects of not letting God’s wisdom guide us.

Proverbs 14:30 – “A sound mind makes for a robust body, but runaway emotions corrode the bones.” (MSG)

We sometimes allow our emotions to blind us on how to deal with misunderstandings, instead of thinking of how God wants us to react; our thoughts get hijacked by the enemy’s deceitful ways in his constant attempt to lure us away from keeping on track with God.

Once again I want to say guard your thoughts because that is what determines your actions. God tells us many times to be aware of our thought life. Don’t let pride (one of the enemies favourite weapons) stand in the way of living righteously in peace and harmony.

Proverbs 13:10 – “Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.” (NIV)

If one lets negative thoughts of resentment or bitterness settle in our minds and grow roots there, then our spiritual growth is going to become stunted.

What does God tells us to do? Well in Philippians 4:7-9 it says:

Philippians 4:7-9 – “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen from me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (NIV)

So submit your heart and mind to Christ and live in peace and joy!
