Letting go of the restraints
In Micah 5:10-13 (AMP), we see Micah speaking to the Israelites about their idol worship and worshipping the work of their hands:
(10) And in that day, says the Lord, I will cut off your horses [on which you depend] from among you and will destroy your chariots.
(11) And I will cut off the cities of your land and throw down all your strongholds.
(12) And I will cut off witchcrafts and sorceries from your hand, and you shall have no more soothsayers.
(13) Your carved images also I will cut off and your statues or pillars out of your midst, and you shall no more worship the work of your hands.
For quite some time in my journey, I was blinded to stuff, people, things that had become “idols” in my life. I wasn’t consciously aware that I was placing some people on a pedestal, to a point where my spiritual growth was being hampered. It was like a stumbling block before me, hindering me from moving to the next level in the Spirit and also in life, with my interactions with people. I had to release the restraints of misplaced loyalty, and tear down unhealthy views of friendships, in order for my heart and spirit to move into a deeper place with God.
Idolatry takes many forms, and anything that is more significant in your life than God, is an Idol. It is very unhealthy. God wants us to worship only God, as our allegiance is to God alone. Relationships that we choose to hold onto, that have had a negative impact in our lives, cause a festering in our spirits, a blockage if you like. Jesus wants you and me saved, healed, and made whole. The first step is always ours. The first step is acknowledgment, and then the next is surrender.
Is there a relationship or person/s or time focus that you need to surrender to God, where you have made it your entire focus? I encourage you today to submit this to God. Release it, so that you can move forward and find your healing through the Holy Spirit. There is a freshness that will come upon you as you truly surrender this to God. Why be in restraints when you can choose to be free?
Worship only Jesus Christ, the King, and not the works and desires of the flesh. Jesus is always true and everlasting, and brings life! Live life, love life in the Spirit! LIVE IT!
