As we head into Passover this Holy Week, we remember that Christ atoned for our sins as the ultimate sacrificial Lamb, that we may have abundance of life, not only in the hereafter, but right now on earth!

On Sunday, Pastor Deborah continued the sermon series on Sowing into the Spirit.  She shared how Christ intended for us to live in abundant grace.

Abundant grace is when we have fullness of life and spiritual prosperity through Jesus.

Whilst everyone in Christ is under his grace, we only enter the abundant grace (or “zoe” life) that Jesus intended for us (see John 10:10) when we seek Him wholeheartedly, and walk humbly and in alignment with God.  The key is obedience, but this must be founded on intimacy, in order to know God’s will for our lives.

Our intimacy with Christ is dependent on where our focus is.  What has your attention?  I find that by heeding what thoughts are competing for my attention, I can discern whatever it is in my life that I am allowing to steal my focus away.  For this reason, we are exhorted to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor 10:5).

In Song of Songs, the Shulamite woman is attributed as having dove’s eyes (Song 1:15).  This portrays purity of heart and single-mindedness, and being guided by the Holy Spirit.  Doves have no peripheral vision, so they only see whatever their eyes are fixed upon.

May we see through doves’ eyes this Easter, and let us embrace the abundant grace prepared for us as we fix our gaze upon Jesus.
