"... I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. (Jer 31:3, NIV)

Right now, God's eyes are searching the earth for those that would love God with their whole hearts.  God pursues and beckons us to draw ever nearer, and to take delight in the Lord.  And once God captures our desire, God will never let us go.  This is the eternal dance of two lovers; an epic love story that unfolds throughout the ages.  It is the divine romance between the Creator and the created.

When I believed I couldn't be Christian because I’m gay (and I learnt after many years that God had no plans of making me straight!), I ceased going to church.  I stopped spending time with the Lord.  Although I still believed in God, my walk became a crawl.  My passion for Jesus dwindled.  I stopped seeking God’s will for my life, and I moved into a place of spiritual barrenness.

Even in those dry times, I could still hear the call of my forsaken Lover, beckoning me to return.  God had not given up on me, even though I’d walked away.

Then, a friend invited me to DGFC, an inclusive church where all are accepted.  Instantly, my heart was set on fire for Jesus again, and God welcomed me back with arms wide open.  My Heavenly Parent wept tears of joy when I, a prodigal son, returned.  Through the renewed intimacy of my restored relationship with the Lord, God began to restore me, healing the hurts I bore from being in the wilderness.

Perhaps you know a prodigal daughter or son whom you can invite to the inclusive church you attend.  Maybe you, yourself, are a prodigal child and God is calling you back right now, because of God's everlasting and unconditional love for you.

Let us be reminded that time is short, and God's heart longs for all to return, and to have a deeper love relationship with the Lord.
