Break that crutch

If you have ever injured a limb or broken a bone and were in need of a crutch to move around, then you know how limiting it can sometimes be.
A few years ago, I fell through the ceiling of my flat and tore some ligaments and tendons in my foot. It was painful! I still battle with pain in that foot every now and again, especially when the temperature outside is cold. One of the many reasons why God gave me a husband that is butch, is so that I don’t have to climb into the ceiling… LOL!
After the fall, I had to move around with a crutch which I was not used to using. Suffice it to say, this was a really annoying time for me.
In Luke 13:10-17, we read about Jesus healing a woman who had been crippled by a spirit for 18 years. This spirit would not allow her spine to straighten up so that she could stand upright. Jesus freed her from the Spirit and immediately she stood upright:
“When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." (Luke 13:12, NIV)
How often do we allow ourselves to be bound up by circumstances, which most of the time affect our spirits to the extent that we become crippled in the Spirit? You know the enemy doesn’t want us to stand upright with our heads held high as sons and daughters of God. If he can get you to become consumed with your circumstances so that you are distracted, he will. Whilst you are distracted, your focus shifts and he causes you to stay out of fellowship with other believers.
What a liar he is! Listen to those people who have walked the walk and talked the talk. Look at their lives and listen to their counsel. Don’t become another statistic which the enemy can claim, but declare that you will no longer allow yourself to be crippled in the spirit. Let Jesus touch you and heal you; it is time to throw away and break those crutches!
