Prayer & Intercession
A Call to Prayer for the Persecuted Church
Every November, millions of Christians in over 130 countries around the world collectively bow before the throne of God on the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP). Thousands of churches, of all denominations, spend much of their time and resources to come together in prayer for Christians who suffer under the burden of persecution in North Korea, Egypt, Pakistan, Iraq, Indonesia, and many other countries.
The IDOP is a global day of intercession that focuses on:
- Fervent prayer for oppressed and persecuted Christians everywhere, as well as for the salvation of their oppressors;
- Raising international awareness of the growing crisis of persecution; and
- Promoting ongoing advocacy and action among free Christians to increase support for the persecuted church.
WHY PARTICIPATE IN THE IDOP?
Although religious persecution has existed for centuries, the persecution of Christians has become a humanitarian crisis unlike any other -- and it is rapidly worsening. As the church continues to grow in countries where anti-Christian hostility is fuelled by politics or opposing extremist religions, hundreds of millions of believers remain at risk of being victimized by harassment, injustice, physical abuse, kidnapping, false imprisonment, or even martyrdom because of their faith.
The Bible is very clear about how we are to regard those who suffer injustice and oppression, especially fellow believers (Luke 12:29; Galatians 6:10; Hebrews 13:3). By actively participating in the IDOP, you can become an intercessor for Christians around the world who routinely suffer persecution for their faith. More often than not, the number one thing these brave men and women ask for is not for their persecution to end, but prayer to help them endure.
Sadly, most Christians in free societies have remained largely unaware of the terrible reality of persecution. By participating in the IDOP, however, you can help spread the word about the crisis of persecution and become a vital advocate for millions of afflicted Christians.
The 2011 International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church will be held on Sunday, November 13. So, whether you'll be alone in a special prayer closet or among dozens of family or church members, be sure to save this important date and plan to join millions of other believers around the world on this powerful day of intercession.

Pray for Israel - Prayer Pointers

Our Heavenly Parent, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Esther and Ruth, in obedience to Your Word, I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the Land of Israel. Bless the people of Israel with Your promise of redemption, shield them with Your love, and bring them renewed hope for their day of salvation. Guide Israel’s leaders and advisors with the light of Your truth. For Your Name’s sake, I ask that You remember Your promise and bless the Land with peace, and its inhabitants with lasting joy. In Jesus Name, Amen.
PRAYER POINTERS
1. Pray for Peace and Protection
Throughout history, the Jewish people have been dispersed throughout the nations and have endured relentless harassment, persecution, and near annihilation. Even at the birth of a safe Jewish Homeland in 1948, the new nation of Israel was welcomed by war. Jewish people still fight for survival as Israel is surrounded by adversaries, foreign and domestic. Israel’s desire and hope for peace remains as constant as her enemies’ desires for her death and destruction.
Israel needs continued prayer for Angelic hosts to encamp around the Land. (See Psalm 83). There now exists very real danger once again from Hezbollah on Israel’s northern border with Lebanon, continued attacks in the southern cities from Hamas in Gaza and the Sinai, potential discord with both Syria and Turkey, as well as Iran’s long standing threat “to wipe Israel off the map.”
In July of 2011, a second Freedom Flotilla to Gaza was attempted, as well as an en masse “fly in” to Ben Gurion Airport. Neither of these efforts to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip and to paint Israel as a violator of Human Rights, were successful. Nevertheless, a trend has begun by ill- informed activists and anti-Israel forces that could result in future violence and further demonizing of Israel.
Pray that the nations would not be deceived but would align with Israel. Pray for Godly wisdom for those bartering for peace in the peace process. Let Israel also know that true shalom will come from the Lord and not from man.

21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
Raid and Plunder
The Lord laid on our hearts the terms raid and plunder early last week, and we knew that to raid and plunder would be an important now word for this time of warfare, to see the Kingdom extended.
The definition of raid and plunder is: “A surprise attack by a small armed force, a sudden forcible entry into a place or an entrance into another's territory for the purpose of seizing goods or valuables” and to “seize (valuables or goods) from (a place) by force usually in wartime or to loot.”
We are the “small” armed force (prayer warriors) who will force our way into the enemy’s territory to seize valuable souls for Christ! As a united force, we will raid and plunder the enemy’s territory with skill and precision to bring in the end time harvest. The mission is clear and we are determined to see people in our community come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
God has stirred our hearts and we are entering into deep corporate intercession to see God’s hand move amongst a lost and dying people. The Lord has asked, "Whom shall I send?" and our response has been, “send me, Lord!”
DGFC’ers have united in the call to a season of prayer and fasting, to see God sending the harvesters into the fields and for the harvest to be released in great numbers.
We trust God to honour Proverbs 2:23 which says, “for the LORD will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them.”
Are you ready to raid and plunder to see others receive the gift of eternal life? It is TIME!

Prayer Explosion!
2009 is the year of giving birth to new things and the prayer team believes that the Lord will move in supernatural ways during the year.
We started the year with a powerhouse prayer meeting as the prayer team dedicated themselves and the church to the Lord as we wanted to “start the year off right!”
Entering a New Dimension of Warfare and Triumph!
The Lord says, "This will be a week that you'll have to walk through that mud that has risen around you and into a new level. Do not get stuck this week. You need to know that I am giving you an extra 'shod of peace' on your feet that will keep you whole as you move through the muck and mire around you. Do not be lax right now. You are moving in to secure that which will be needed in the next season. I will reorder the way you seek Me.
For the next four weeks you will be seeking Me in a new way. I will reorder the way that you've heard Me. I will even reorder the plans and the assignments that you presently have. This will be the beginning of the reordering so you can produce what I need produced. Little by little you can retake what the enemy has taken.
Watch Now for 7 DAYS to PLOW into the Year Ahead!
Last Saturday night at our Firstfruits Celebration the Lord released a strategic word about watching. This is usually not a season that we are watchful. However, many enemies are on the road ahead. I believe during this time, we must pull aside and let the Lord clear our path, clear the atmosphere, and open up the way.
International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church 2008
Sunday November 9th 2008
But you are not alone...
There is a wonderful little story from Africa. The villagers in a poor area decided to build a hospital but really had no money so a small boy decided he would do something. The only things he had were some pens. So he started to knock on doors asking people to buy a pen to support the building project. A lady said to him, "But that's too big a challenge for you!" Then the boy smiled and said, "Oh, but I am not alone! My smaller brother is selling pens on the other side of the street."
Many brothers and sisters in Christ in more than sixty nations do not have the full freedom to confess Jesus as Lord and Saviour in our world. Just to give you two examples: when you read this some two thousand Christians are in prison in Eritrea and thousands have lost their homes in India as a result of anti-Christian attacks.
Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem
This year, more than 200,000 churches in 175 nations will participate in the largest Israel-focused prayer event in history. On October 5, 2008, and every year on the first Sunday of every October, join us in this historic quest to see God's purposes fulfilled in God's holy city.
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May they prosper who love you.'" (Psalm 122:6)
